Injection molding and technology firm Beaumont has updated the terms of its agreement with Autodesk.
In a news release, officials with The Beaumont Family of Cos. in Erie, Pa., said Autodesk will lease equipment from its Autodesk Moldflow Material Characterization Lab in Australia to Beaumont Advanced Processing's Material Characterization Lab in Cranesville, Pa.
The leased equipment will be recalibrated, maintained and operated by Beaumont and will nearly double Beaumont's ability to provide material characterization that meets Autodesk's standards for their global customers.
In early 2024, Autodesk announced the discontinuation of material characterization services through the lab. Officials said this decision made Beaumont Autodesk's preferred lab for Moldflow material characterization.
Beaumont will expand its operations in the U.S. to meet increased demand for material characterization services from regions previously serviced by Autodesk.
"Since taking over the testing in North America in 2017, we have learned so much and have continually strived to provide the highest quality of characterization while minimizing delivery time to our customers," Vice President Alex Beaumont said.
Beaumont Cos. operates four units: technology, development, advanced processing and the AIM Institute, an injection molding training program. The business was founded in 1998 by Plastics Hall of Famer John Beaumont.
In Erie, Beaumont Advanced Processing employs 50 and operates 24 injection molding machines. That unit does low-to-mid-volume production and specializes in product launches and validation.
