A subsidiary of Berry Global Group Inc., Letica Corp., is spending nearly $28 million to expand in Kentucky.
"To meet growing industry and customer demand, the company is planning to expand its manufacturing operation in Fulton County, adding an additional 45,000 square feet to its warehouse. The investment will also include building and property improvements as well as the addition of new machinery and equipment upgrades," a Jan. 30 announcement from Gov. Andy Beshear's office reads.
The expansion will create 15 new jobs.
"This expansion is a testament to the employees here in Fulton. Their work ethic coupled with high technical aptitude has made expanding at this site possible," said Kody Chapman, Berry's Fulton County plant director, in a statement.
The location has undergone a series of ownership changes in recent years after decades of family ownership. RPC Group plc acquired Letica in 2017 and Berry then purchased RPC in 2019. Now, Amcor plc is putting the finishing touches on a deal to acquire Berry, a deal expected to close later this year. Letica, prior to 2017, was a family-owned business.
"This investment by Berry Global and Letica in the city of Fulton is vital for our community's prosperity. It not only safeguards existing jobs but also paves the way for new opportunities," Fulton City Manager Mike Gunn said in a statement.
The facility makes plastic containers, handles and lids for the food, commercial and industrial markets.
