Berry Global Group Inc. is expanding production capacity for health care packaging at three of the company's sites in Europe.
The Evansville, Ind.-based company said the investments involve locations in Offranville, France, and Osnago and Sirone in Italy. Manufacturing capacity is increasing by up to 30 percent across the three locations.
"As pharmaceutical innovations progress, so should the packaging and support that delivers each dose. Berry Global is here to provide that expertise in the creation of patient-centered packages and drug delivery device design," said Walid Hamza, executive vice president of global health care. "We continue to invest in the latest health care technologies."
The three Berry locations, the company said, are "strategically located near pharmaceutical manufacturing and filling site hubs."
"Investments at these sites will help ensure further supply chain reliability and consistent product availability while meeting the growing demand for Berry's high value products and solutions in other regions of the world," the company said.
Berry's location in Offranville makes both "standard and custom solutions for pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery devices, such as ophthalmic and nasal products," Berry said. A key part of the work there includes new clean room production.
Work in Osnago and Sirone "will support the growing demand for prescription and over-the-counter orally administered solutions for the prevention and treatment of infections and respiratory diseases driven by rising air pollution levels," Berry said.
Osnago makes throat spray actuators and Sirone makes bottles for those actuators. Berry notes on its website it uses injection molding for those devices.
