At Clinton, Tenn.-based Techmer PM, the health of its employees is significant.
The company, a producer of color and additive concentrates for high-performance applications, offers a free gym membership to a local gym, fitness tracker reimbursements to employees and dependents, telemedicine benefits, on-site wellness screenings and on-site flu shots. Each year, Techmer puts $500 into employees' health savings accounts for medical expenses.
Techmer workers can sign up to be paired with a nurse health coach that can assist with disease management and chronic conditions.
Free 401(k) retirement planning seminars are available. Employees can take advantage of a free membership to a financial advisory firm, and the company makes a 100 percent vested match from the first day of retirement contributions.
Techmer even has its own form of currency called Techmer Bucks, which can be redeemed for cash or gift cards. Employees earn Techmer Bucks for practicing safety in the workplace, making suggestions to the company that are then implemented and going above and beyond in their jobs.
For workplace training and development, the company offers mentoring, job shadowing and cross-training.
"Our tuition reimbursement, foreign language reimbursement, internal leadership development program and workforce development program are tools available to all employees to enhance his/her skills and abilities to career advancement," Techmer said in its Best Places to Work survey.
Techmer said 33 percent of its workforce has been with the company for more than 20 years, and 48 percent has been with the company for more than 10 years.
There are 272 Techmer employees at the Clinton location and 560 employees companywide.
Techmer previously made the Best Places to Work lists in 2019, 2017, 2016 and 2014.
