Ellisville, Mo.-based Jamplast Inc., which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2019, refers to its employees and customers as the "JamFam" and are treated that way.
The company, a resin distributor of biopolymers, engineering polymers and commodity-grade thermoplastics, said in its Best Places to Work company survey that employees' voices are always heard and they are encouraged to make decisions in the day-to-day business.
"Our employees are given opportunities to create their own business that aligns with our company vision, which never leaves them in a 'boxed' job description," the company said in its questionnaire. "We have deep appreciation for the views and suggestions, and they drive our success. Our employees live and perform to make each other better people as well as convey this passion on to our business partners."
Mentoring, job shadowing, cross-training and workshops are available for employees in terms of leadership and career development opportunities. The company also offers reimbursement for business education workshops and conferences.
Team members can get paid to read books for Jamplast's monthly book club.
Birthdays and anniversaries are recognized and celebrated with treat gatherings, cards and emails.
Jamplast offers nine paid holidays as well as 15 vacation days to employees after one year of employment.
The company pays 100 percent of the medical coverage premiums for employees, and it offers a health reimbursement arrangement to assist team members with plan deductible costs. There are 11 employees in the Ellisville office, 13 in Mount Vernon, Ind., and four remote.
As the organization celebrated its 25th anniversary, the team "took a deep dive" and reflected on its successes and failures.
"Our company CEO John Moisson has built a culture that we hire, develop and grow by," the company said. "This culture includes a genuine need and desire to be a steward to the people and customers we work with both internally and externally."
