Bilsing Automation North America Inc., the U.S. subsidiary of Bilsing Automation GmbH in Germany, has gained nearly 20 percent more manufacturing space after relocating its North American headquarters in Roseville, Mich.
The company moved to the new facility — a roughly 13,700-square-foot building — in August. The building is just down the street from its previous location, which was a leased facility of the same size.
The Roseville plant has 12 employees and houses operations for sales, project management and design, finance, inventoried components, assembly, technical support services, and shipping and receiving.
The difference between the two sites came down to plant layout, which enabled more room for manufacturing, according to Thomas Garant, general manager of the U.S. subsidiary.
"We were able to start from scratch and build the inside from front to back in an efficient manner that has all admin, including engineering, project management and sales up front instead of scattered about," Garant said in emailed responses to Plastics News.
The old facility had approximately 9,000 square feet for manufacturing. With the new facility, due to a different plant layout, the company gained about 1,700 square feet of manufacturing space — an increase of 18.9 percent.
