Salt Lake City-based Biomerics LLC has acquired Fairfield, Calif.-based Dependable Plastics & Pattern Inc. as it creates a new interventional medical plastics division.
"This acquisition expands our plastic component capabilities for the interventional robotic surgical market," Travis Sessions, CEO of Biomerics, said in a July 11 news release. "We are excited to welcome the Dependable Plastics employees to the Biomerics team."
Dependable Plastics features advanced thermoforming, liquid cast resin molding and additive manufacturing.
"These capabilities, combined with Biomerics injection molding operations, will make Biomerics IMP a full-service plastics component supplier to the interventional markets," the release said.
Biomerics did not respond to multiple requests for comment by Plastics News.
The acquisition will become the Biomerics' second operation in California. The company also has a micromachining center in Santa Clara.
Brett Poole will lead Biomerics IMP, transferring responsibilities from the founders over the rest of the year, the release said.
"I look forward to continuing the 40-year history of excellence and integrating these new capabilities into Biomerics," he said.
Biomerics IMP also offers secondary processes including pad printing, painting and subassemblies.
