Tigre-USA Inc., a unit of Brazilian pipe maker Tigre Group S.A., has acquired PVC pipe fittings manufacturer Dura Plastic Products Inc.
Dura Plastic has manufacturing operations in Celina, Tenn., and at its headquarters site in Beaumont, Calif., about 25 miles west of Riverside, Calif. Dura injection molds piping components for the residential irrigation, drainage, plumbing, golf, pool and spa markets. It performs in-house mold making, and has warehouses in eight states.
Dura was founded in 1962 by the Rost family.
"This type of transaction has always been in the plan," Dura Vice President Hardy Rost said in an April 9 news release. "The timing was right, and without further family succession, it was an easy decision when [Tigre] contacted us."
Joinville, Brazil-based Tigre launched its U.S. presence about 15 years ago, opening a plant in Janesville, Wis., where it injection molds fittings. The parent company operates in 40 countries. In addition to the U.S. plant, it has nine factories in Brazil and 11 others throughout South America.
Tigre also has a joint venture with pipe giant Advanced Drainage Systems Inc. of Hilliard, Ohio. The venture, Tigre-ADS Brazil in São Paulo, has one plant in Brazil and one in Chile that make high density polyethylene corrugated pipe and connectors for the mining, infrastructure and irrigation markets in South America. ADS ended a U.S. joint venture with Tigre in 2018.
