US chemicals supplier Cabot Corp. is showcasing a range of its products developed for the automotive and packaging markets at the upcoming K show in October.
Addressing the challenges posed by the growing electric vehicle market, Cabot is presenting its solutions for conductive plastics including carbon nanostructures, graphenes and conductive carbon blacks.
“With our ongoing innovation focus in the area of e-mobility, we are collaborating with our valued customers and industry partners to bring ideas into reality,” said Rainer Bechtold, global director of strategy and marketing.
The company will highlight its Cabelec conductive compounds and concentrates as well as its Vulcan conductive carbon black during the show, as “excellent platforms” to bring new solutions to the market.
The Boston, Massachusetts-based company will also present new formulations for its Plasblak black masterbatches for engineering thermoplastics, which it says will have a lower impact on mechanical properties compared to its predecessors.
The jet black masterbatch is suitable for use in high gloss coloration of thermoplastics including PS, ABS, SAN, PE and PP. It can be used in compounding, injection molding and extrusion applications and will retain good physical properties in the final articles, according to Cabot.
In addition to automotive solutions, Cabot will display its specialty carbons and black masterbatch solutions for rigid and flexible packaging, which deliver high purity and color performance for use in food contact applications.
The range includes new formulations for PET and tailored concentrates based on recycled polymer material, Cabot said in a release ahead of the show.
The company’s Cabelec conductive compounds and concentrates range will also be highlighted for electrical conductivity in packaging.
In line with the industry’s focus on the recyclability of plastics, Cabot said it was actively collaborating across the value chain to improve the sortability and increase the recyclability of black plastic.
At K, the company will feature a new black masterbatch formulation range with enhanced cover power to effectively overcolor mixed recycled polymeric material.
“We look forward to engaging with current and future customers during the show and collaborating with them to solve the performance and sustainability challenges of tomorrow,” said Aled Rees, president, Formulated Solutions.
Cabot can be found at booth E62, hall 6 at K Show, which will be held Oct. 16-23 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
