A nonprofit group's 4-year-old lawsuit against consumer goods companies alleging a public nuisance from plastic packaging pollution will be allowed to continue.
Earth Island Institute said Judge V. Raymond Swope of the Superior Court of California of the County of San Mateo declined to a defendants' request to dismiss the case.
Earth Island is alleging the consumer packaged goods companies have created a public nuisance through their plastic packaging that pollutes California waterways.
Companies named in the lawsuit include Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo Inc. and Procter & Gamble Co.
