Engineered Polymer Industries Inc. has acquired RD Rubber Technology Corp., effective Feb. 14.
Both custom injection molders are based in Los Angeles. Terms were not disclosed.
EPI was recently founded by Greg Sallee, who previously served as president for Pexco Aerospace and as a business unit manager for Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics. He will assume the role as CEO at RD Rubber while Walt Hopkins, its former president, co-founder and part owner, transitions to retirement, EPI said in an April 10 news release.
RD Rubber was founded by Hopkins and Rosanne Dukowitz in 1986 and has been serving the medical, aerospace and defense markets with custom molded rubber products since its inception, according to the release.
The acquisition includes RD Rubber's 19 injection, liquid silicone rubber, compression and transfer molding machines, ranging in size from 30-275 tons of clamping force, the release said.
The company will continue to operate as RD Rubber Technology Corp. and Sallee expects a seamless transition.
"RD Rubber is a well-run company with an excellent reputation and customer-centric culture, which has enabled it to be successful over its 35 years," Sallee said in the release. "I plan to continue to nurture this same culture."
Florence, Mass.-based MBS Advisors represented RD Rubber on the deal.
