Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia-based RPS Composites Inc., a manufacturer of fiber-reinforced plastic and dual laminate piping systems, has acquired the assets of Fabricated Plastics Ltd. in Maple, Ontario, to add tank fabrication to its capabilities and expand capacity.
RPS supplies the chemical processing, coal power, pulp and paper, wastewater and steel pickling markets with corrosion-, abrasion- and temperature-resistant products.
FPL produces vessels and tanks up to 30 feet in diameter and 60 feet high, also used by the chemical processing and pulp and paper markets, as well the mining, semiconductor, food and drug, and electroplating industries.
Acquisition terms were not disclosed.
RPS Composites CEO Jeff Fraser said FPL, which was founded in 1962, has a good team that will operate as RPS Composites Ontario Inc.
"Their commitment to safety and product quality aligns with our RPS values, and, the product lines that include ASME RTP-1 certified tanks and vessels, are an excellent strategic fit for RPS. We are excited by what this expanded capacity means for our current and future customers," Fraser said in a news release.
Armen Seropian, engineering manager at the former FPL plant, added: "Our team is happy to be part of the RPS team and we look forward to serving all our customers with the same level of quality and service they have come to expect."
The product line name "armoured plastics" will be retained along with the company name Fabricated Plastics and website.
