United Kingdom-based plastics firm Carclo plc is closing its injection molding plant in Tucson, Ariz.
In a statement, Carclo officials in Ossett, England, said the decision to close the site "represents the culmination of our U.S restructuring efforts, aimed at optimizing our operational footprint and aligning closely with our strategic objectives."
They added that most manufacturing done in Tucson is being relocated to its plant in Latrobe, Pa.
"This move not only consolidates our technical and manufacturing expertise, but also brings production closer to our design and engineering center," officials said.
"Carclo is leveraging its global footprint to redistribute manufacturing capacity," they added. "This strategic reallocation is designed to position our production facilities closer to our customer bases."
No employee count for the Tucson site was included in the release. Carclo offers service ranging from injection molding to mold design, assembly and printing. Markets served by the firm include life sciences and aerospace.
Carclo's annual North American injection molding sales were estimated at almost $70 million in the most recent Plastics News ranking. The firm reported sales of almost 67 million pounds ($84 million) for the six months ended Sept. 30. That amount was down 7 percent from the same period in the prior year.
