Asheville, N.C.-based plastic card manufacturer PLI Holdings is permanently laying off 51 workers to concentrate on access control card products.
The layoffs began on June 6, according to a filing with the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
"In order to provide the best possible product at the lowest cost to our consumers, our Asheville facility will now concentrate exclusively on hospitality and access control card products," PLI's Leeton H. Lee said, WLOS News 13 reported.
PLI makes gift, hospitality and rewards cards as well as access cards such as hotel key cards.
PLI did not immediately respond to inquiry for comment by Plastics News.
The filing showed 26 of the laid off employees are from the 605 Sweeten Creek Industrial Park site and 25 employees are from the 575 Sweeten Creek Industrial Park in Asheville.
