Profile extruder Chelsea Building Products plans to expand its manufacturing in Pennsylvania and open a new facility that will both make vinyl windows and doors and supply PVC compounds to its factories.
The Oakmont, Pa.-based company announced Dec. 20 that it has acquired 30 acres in Madison, Pa., and plans to break ground on a 228,000-square-foot factory in 2025.
It will be the company's third manufacturing plant in the U.S. The 48-year-old company had opened a second facility, a 126,000-square-foot plant, in Greenville, Texas, in 2019 to meet demand for its vinyl and PVC composite window and door systems.
"Chelsea Building Products is looking forward to commencing with its aggressive expansion plans and building a second facility in Pennsylvania," said President and CEO Peter Dewil. "With the plant being strategically located by major highways and rail access, we're looking forward to continuously improving efficiency and getting products to customers quickly and easily."
The company said the Madison facility will employ 100 to 150 workers within five years of starting operations.
Chelsea had $169 million in profile-related sales in 2022, making it the 36th largest pipe, profile and tubing extruder in North America, according to the most recent Plastics News sales ranking.
The company, which has 385 employees, is part of Karlsruhe, Germany-based Aluplast GmbH.
