Automotive parts supplier MingHua USA Inc. signed a lease agreement for 134,000 square feet of a Duncan, S.C., industrial development near its existing location in Greer.
The expansion into "more than half" of a recently built warehouse on the site will allow the company to "significantly ramp up operations," in response to automotive industry demand, a Dec. 7 news release said.
"Despite the challenges levied by the pandemic, the automotive industry is holding steady and flourishing in the Southeast region," Thomas Koehler, president of MingHua USA, said in the release. "As production regains momentum, the increased stream of manufacturing has required MingHua USA to conduct a swift expansion."
MingHua did not respond to multiple requests for comment by Plastics News.
"With [the site] located right down the street from our headquarters, we jumped on the opportunity to occupy this state-of-the-art warehouse, which checks all of our boxes for kickstarting operations to meet the swell in demand," Koehler added.
A subsidiary of China-based Jiangnan Mold Plastic Technology Corp., MingHua's Greer facility injection molds parts for BMW and other automakers and Tier 1 suppliers.
