Coated Fabrics Co. has acquired the printable plastics business of Felix Schoeller Group.
CFC is a supplier and converter of plastic film and sheet based in Santa Fe Springs, Calif. The business being acquired is based in nearby Anaheim and formerly was known as Alameda Co., which was acquired in 2018 by Felix of Osnabruck, Germany.
"Felix's printable plastics have a long and proven track record," CFC vice president Milan Sheth said in a news release. "These products are a natural fit to CFC's current lineup … [and] CFC's existing converting capabilities will be enhanced with the additional assets from Felix."
Officials added in the release that because both companies are based in the Greater Los Angeles area, there will be "an efficient and smooth transfer" of business activities. They added that, for Felix, the sale of the plastics unit will allow it to focus exclusively on its core paper business.
For customers of both firms, officials said, the deal "will translate into more material and converting options from an organization dedicated to the plastics industry."
"Customers will benefit from a greater variety of plastic substrate options with fast converting times to support their business demands," they added.
CFC was founded in 1966 and serves the packaging, printing and stationery industries.
