Comexi Group Industries SA, a Spanish maker of packaging machinery, will open its third technology center at its new U.S. headquarters in Miami.
The 15,000-square-foot facility — CTec USA — is scheduled for completion in November. The new sales and service offices are done, parts will be stocked for centralized inventory, and the first technical training sessions are expected to be held this year.
"The new headquarters and CTec in Miami is a significant investment by Comexi to offer our customers in the Americas better and more extensive services in terms of training, quality, processes, R&D systems and online ordering. Establishing an expanded parts inventory here also helps guarantee better and faster distribution of spare parts to customers in the U.S. and Canada," Olof Buelens, Comexi vice president and director of North American operations, said in a news release.
At the facility, Comexi customers and partners will be able to get onsite for training in flexo, laminating, slitting, equipment maintenance, color management, and prepress processes. They also will be able to test and trial materials using onsite machinery.
CTec USA will have a fully operational SL2 solventless laminator, an S2 DT wide-web slitter, which features a double turret rewinding system, and an F2 MP hybrid flexographic press, which is a10-color press designed for a wide range of quality print production.
The first training will be a three-day course about color management that covers measurement-based process control, extended color gamut implementation and quality control practices.
Training for high-value printing, lamination, and improving slitting production will be offered the second quarter of 2021.
Founded in 1954, Comexi is based in Riudellots de la Selva, Spain, where it has a manufacturing operation and the Manel Xifra Boada Technological Center. The company also has a production facility and technical center in Brazil and a sales office in Moscow.
