Aurora Material Solutions has completed an expansion at its headquarters site in Streetsboro, Ohio.
Aurora held a ribbon cutting event at the site Aug. 15. In a news release, officials said the expansion "further extends Aurora's leadership" in compounding of rigid PVCs, rigid PVC alloys and chlorinated PVC.
The project also increased annual compounding capacity at the site by more than 140 million pounds and created several new jobs.
"The expansion is an example of our company's mission to be our customers' first choice in polymer solutions," CEO Darrell Hughes said in the release. He added that the project "will help us continue to grow and win with our customers, while further enhancing our unparalleled quality and lead times."
Streetsboro is the company's largest facility and has operated for more than 20 years. The site began scale-up product trials for customers in May.
Aurora changed its name from Aurora Plastics earlier this year. At the NPE2024 trade show in May, the firm launched Ecoplast materials and a number of recycled and other sustainable material solutions.
Ecoplast sustainable compounds can provide energy savings, water and waste conservation and landfill avoidance. Aurora officials also said at NPE2024 that the firm is working on a 100 percent chlorinated PVC material for window lineals. The material is in development and should be commercially available by the end of the year.
In 2022, Aurora merged with Enviroplas Inc., and earlier this year, the firm acquired EnCom Polymers Inc. Both Enviroplas and EnCom were based in Evansville, Ind., and were focused on compounds made from engineering resins. Previously, Aurora's output primarily consisted of PVC compounds. In total, Aurora has made seven acquisitions since 2017.
Hughes said a NPE2024 that Aurora remains interested in making more acquisitions. The firm has been majority owned since 2021 by investment firm Nautic Partners of Providence, R.I.
