For Conventus Polymers, the company it was six months ago is not the same company it is today, and the company it is today will not be the same one six months from now, according to Fran Grandelli, director of supply chain and operations.
Since the start of the pandemic, the resin distributor has experienced "a lot of growth," Grandelli said. "Headcount increased several hundred percent," and it expanded into Mexico and China. It also relocated to a new, larger headquarters in Parsippany, N.J., that is designed to meet the growing demands of its plastics distribution business.
"I think you will continue to see a commitment to carving out a niche in high-performance polymers including fluoropolymers, adding very strong technical resources to help our molders and OEMs achieve new levels of application performance, and some enhanced branding as we really try to expand throughout the West Coast and Mexico," Grandelli said.
Conventus recognizes the importance of mental health for its employees and encourages benefits such as counseling and flexible schedules. It also emphasizes diversity and inclusion; its Commercial Leadership Program targets a diverse pool of candidates, and the organization includes a range of nationalities, languages spoken and ages.
It also pays 100 percent of health care premiums of medical, dental, vision and long-term care for employees.
Grandelli said "new challenges, variety and growth" get the employees excited to come to work every day, as well as a good culture that thrives on collaboration.
"There are so many talented companies in our industry that are fantastic corporate role models addressing issues such as workplace diversity, community outreach, employee training, benefits, etc.," Grandelli said. "I think it challenges [our] executive team even further to find continuous ways to make our company a best place to work."
