Surgoinsville, Tenn. — Automotive parts supplier Cooper Standard Holdings Inc. is permanently laying off 86 workers at a plant in Tennessee.
The Novi, Mich.-based company has filed notice with the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development indicating the move at its Surgoinsville site is effective Oct. 20.
An Aug. 11 memo from the state agency said the company notified the agency that same day about the move.
Cooper Standard issued a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice to the state revealing the layoffs. Tennessee, which then released a memo regarding the WARN notification, does not make public the actual WARN notifications, according to an agency spokesperson.
A Cooper Standard spokeswoman could not be immediately reached for additional information.
Cooper Standard said earlier this year that it would close two more facilities, without naming locations at the time. That was in addition to 10 factories it shuttered last year, with those including six in Asia, three in North America and one in Europe.
Cooper Standard's core product lines include sealing, fuel and brake delivery and fluid transfer systems. They have both plastic and rubber extrusion at their site.
