Cary, N.C.-based Cornerstone Building Brands Inc., the largest manufacturer of exterior building products in North America, is closing a window extrusion plant in Lansing, Ill., and laying of 274 employees.
The facility did business as Silver Line Building Products, according to a layoff notice filed with Illinois Work Net.
Cornerstone had acquired the hollow core vinyl window and patio door business of the Silver Line and American Craftsman brands from Andersen Corp. in October 2018.
In 2022, Cornerstone got a new owner. The building products maker was bought by affiliates of the New York-based private equity firm Clayton, Dubilier & Rice in an all-cash deal with an enterprise value of about $5.8 billion, including debt assumption, in March 2022.
The firm acquired than 49 percent of the shares of common stock for Cornerstone, which also produces vinyl siding, stone veneer, metal roofing, metal wall systems and metal accessories.
The first layoffs at the Illinois window plant are scheduled for Aug. 11.
