Cornerstone Building Brands made a second round of layoffs at its North Brunswick, N.J., manufacturing plant for vinyl windows and doors, this time eliminating 86 jobs.
The layoffs went into effect Sept. 13 — less than two months after 72 employees were let go from the building products producer effective July 18.
Company officials pointed to an "ongoing reduction in production and anticipated revenue loss" as reasons for the July layoffs, according to a notice filed in accordance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act.
With $3.4 billion in estimated sales, Cornerstone is the second largest pipe, profile and tubing extruder in North America according to Plastics News data.
Window profile extruders have been shedding jobs in 2024, including 190 positions at Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio-based Associated Materials LLC and 110 positions at Charlotte, N.C.-based Jeld-Wen Holding Inc.
Jeldwen also closed two plants, including a Vista, Calif., facility that produces composite windows marketed and sold under the brand name Auraline.
