Coveris has acquired 100 percent of the shares of the Dorset, UK-based Amberley Adhesive Labels Ltd as it continues its turnaround measures. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The UK supplier of high-quality self-adhesive labels will be integrated in the Labels & Board division of Coveris with “a clear intention to further invest into the business,” said Coveris in a statement last month.
Coveris’ labels business currently focuses on serving the fresh, chilled and ambient markets which will be topped up by Amberley’s footprint in personal care and home markets.
The UK business will also bring “extensive digital printing capabilities” to Coveris, allowing it to expand into new markets and focus on extending its digital printing technology capabilities.
“Introducing our Coveris strategy, we clearly committed ourselves to invest and grow our business in high potential areas. The acquisition of Amberley clearly underpins this endeavor,” said Jakob Mosser, CEO Coveris, on the deal.
Based in Vienna, Coveris has recently completed a three-year modernization program and upgrade of equipment.
Last year, the company divested its rigid packaging business as part of a strategic move to shift its focus to flexible packaging in Europe.
As part of the realignment bid, Coveris is targeting high-performance solutions for the food, pet food, medical and pharmaceuticals markets, as well as other growing consumer segments, primarily in Europe.
