Blown film extruder Dallas Plastics Corp. of Mesquite, Texas, is closing one of its five plants after acquiring two companies in the past two years.
The company will auction off 10 blown film lines and various auxiliary equipment including core cutters, a grinder, stretch pallet wrapper and dump hopper.
Dallas Plastics is closing the plant in Wentzville, Mo., but the Jan. 11 auction will be held online only, by Tauber-Arons Inc. of Sherman Oaks, Calif. The equipment can be inspected Jan. 10 or the morning of the sale.
The plastics company has been owned since 2020 by Sole Source Capital LLC (SSC), a Santa Monica, Calif., private equity firm. At that time, Dallas Plastics said it employed 120 and operated 31 film lines in Longview, Texas, and Wentzville.
Since then, Dallas Plastics has acquired two other plastics firms: Hi-De Liners Inc. of Orange, Mass., in June 2021; and Montreal blown film maker Emballage MPP Inc. in 2022.
Dalllas Plastics said in May it would invest $2.8 million to expand the Longview plant, adding equipment, storage space and 19 jobs.
The company reported $65 million in 2022 sales, placing it at No. 87 in Plastics News' 2023 ranking of film and sheet extruders in North America.
