Demgy Group is not only boosting the company's presence in the United States, but also adds to its work in the aerospace market with the acquisition of a Washington state company.
The purchase of Tool Gauge of Tacoma means that the airplane market now becomes the largest customer segment for Demgy.
"With the acquisition of Tool Gauge, the aerospace market has become the Demgy Group's top market, ahead of the automotive and medical sectors. This strengthened positioning will enable us to deploy our cutting-edge technological solutions on a much larger scale, offering components created from high and extreme performance polymers," Demgy CEO Pierre-Jean Leduc said in a statement.
Tool Gauge makes plastic interior cabin parts and is a Tier 1 supplier to Boeing Co. The company now will be known as Demgy Pacific.
"Tool Gauge possesses essential industrial know-how in plastic injection molding and the machining of high-performance materials," Demgy said in announcing the purchase.
Demgy Group, based in Saint-Aubin-sur-Gaillon, France, also has a presence in the European aerospace market as a Tier 1 supplier to Airbus SE. Demgy, now with 10 global locations, is a Tier 2 supplier to all aerospace equipment manufacturers, the company said.
Demgy's U.S. purchase follows the 2023 acquisition of EIS Aircraft GmbH, a maker of plastic and composite parts for Airbus cabin interiors with two locations in Lemgo and Euskirchen, Germany. That business is now known as Demgy EIS.
The company first entered the U.S. market a decade ago with the purchase of MET Plastics Inc. of Elk Grove Village, Ill. The injection molder, also serving the aerospace market, is now known as Demgy Chicago.
Mike Walter will lead both U.S. sites as president.
"Through this acquisition, we'll grow and enhance our U.S footprint by strengthening our position as a leader in high value-added plastics processing for the aerospace and defense sector," he said in a statement. "We're enthusiastically looking forward, for example, to the synergies that Demgy Pacific will be able to develop with the Demgy Group's other facilities in injection molding, assembly and decoration."
The addition of Tool Gauge will push Demgy Group annual sales to more than 130 million euros ($143 million) this year. The company, with a total workforce of about 950, seeks to have annual sales of 200 million euros ($220 million) by 2030.
Tool Gauge, founded in 1966, also makes metal parts for the aerospace industry.
