Brooklyn Park, Minn.-based injection molder and additive manufacturer Diversified Plastics Inc. is now doing business as Aprios Custom MFG to highlight its additive manufacturing capabilities.
"This company has a great history and legacy," CEO Alex Danzberger said in a July 10 news release. "We are proud of our roots in injection molding but chose to rebrand because the scope of our service offerings has evolved to meet the more demanding requirements of our customers."
As a part of the rebrand, Aprios recently added Carbon's largest Digital Light Synthesis printer to its fleet, the L1, Tom Venable, chief commercial officer, told Plastics News.
The company has a total of four Carbon-brand printers, including three M2 printers, Venable added, used for rapid prototyping and production-grade parts.
"We will be adding more printers in the future as that business scales," he said. "We are planning on adding other technologies in the areas of mold building to help customers speed up their time to market and more automation across production and quality. We are also looking at ways we can leverage AI to better serve our customers and their supply chains."
DPI was a finalist twice — in 2019 and 2020 — for PN's Processor of the Year and received the Excellence Award for customer relations from PN for 2020.
"The rebrand to Aprios Custom MFG signifies a new chapter in the company's journey while honoring its 47-year legacy," the company said. "[It] will continue to operate with the same dedication and ownership structure. The company remains a full-service contract manufacturer, offering design for manufacturing assistance, additive manufacturing along with clean room assembly and packaging."
Employee-owned Aprios has facilities in Brooklyn Park and San Diego, specializing in parts for medical devices, filtration, telecommunications, electronics and various industrial markets.
