In a Canadian mold parts deal, Diemould Service Co. (Canada) Ltd. has acquired Border Steel Ltd., a Windsor, Ontario-based manufacturing and service company.
In a news release, officials with DMS in Oldcastle, Ontario, said that the deal brings its own expertise along with Border Steel's to offer a range of services to their North American customer base. They added that customers will benefit from Blanchard grinding and flame-cutting services, along with access to a wide selection of tool steel plates.
Under DMS ownership, both companies will continue to operate as separate entities while working together.
"The goal is to expand and improve Border Steel, creating a brighter future and more opportunities for employees of both organizations, all while providing better service to the tool and mold industry," officials said.
They added that improvements are already underway at both DMS and Border Steel and that details of those improvements will be shared in the near future. No purchase price was disclosed in the release.
The Border Steel purchase is the first for DMS since early 2021, when it bought Component Guys Inc., a similar firm also based in Oldcaste that had been founded by former DMS employees.
DMS makes multiple mold components, including pins, sleeves and plates. The firm also operates a U.S. office in Elk Grove Village, Ill.
Border Steel says it runs Canada's largest Blanchard grinder, allowing the firm to process more parts at once and to quickly fulfill large grinding orders.
DMS will exhibit at NPE2024 in booth S2803.
