Following in the footsteps of a host of industry colleagues, Domo Chemicals has announced that it will not actively participate in Fakuma 2020, scheduled to take place in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in October.
The company plans to set up an on-site contact desk at the event. It will also organize a digital event focusing on its expanded solutions portfolio and updated business strategy, during which its new nylon 6 and nylon 6/6 offerings will be introduced.
During the digital event, Domo also will discuss details for its updated company strategy following its acquisition of Solvay Engineering Plastics in February. Customers will provide exact timing of the digital event in the "coming weeks."
Ghent, Belgium-based Domo said in a July 15 statement that it regretted having to minimize its participation in the trade show.
"It is the world's leading technical event for industrial plastics processing, and always serves as a great platform to present our products and services," Ludovic Tonnerre, vice president engineering plastics at Domo, said. "However, we believe that there is too much uncertainty around a possible second coronavirus wave.
"We cannot risk the health and well-being of our employees and customers. Furthermore, we do not believe that a satisfactory trade show experience can be guaranteed due to the very strict hygiene and safety measures that will need to be implemented at the event."
Domo's announcement follows similar action by Wittmann Group, Engel Austria GmbH, KraussMaffei, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, Sepro, Piovan, Motan-Colortronic, Nordson Corp. and Herrmann Ultraschalltechnik.
