German automotive plastics supplier Dr. Schneider Automotive Systems is investing $22.5 million to open manufacturing operations in Mississippi.
The new site in Baldwyn, Miss. is expected to create 400 jobs over the next six years, a Nov. 3 news release said. The company will begin hiring for the new positions next year.
Dr. Schneider did not respond to multiple requests for comment by Plastics News.
"The skilled workforce, community support and local automotive industry experience will benefit our company, and we look forward to becoming part of this community," Antonio Ramos, chief operting officer, said in the release.
The company manufactures products including ventilation systems, decorative trim, integrated trim and add-on parts, storage systems, center consoles, and mechatronic and electronic components for automotive and non-automotive sectors. Its customer base includes BMW, Daimler AG, Ferrari, Ford, Jaguar/Land Rover, Maserati, Renault, Toyota, Volvo and the Volkswagen Group. Headquartered in Kronach-Neuses, Germany, Dr Schneider has operations in Germany, China, Poland, Spain and the United States.
