Engineered fasteners distributor EFC International Inc. has a new private equity owner, Chicago-based Frontenac Co.
St. Louis-based EFC, which designs but does not manufacture plastic, metal and rubber caps, plugs and knobs, had been owned by Charlottesville, Va.-based Quad-C Management Inc. since 2013. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Under Quad-C, EFC pursued a strategy to expand internationally, opening offices in China, Mexico, South Korea, Germany and the United Kingdom.
EFC has partnership agreements with injection molders and other manufacturers to make highly engineered specialty fasteners Its products also include spring steel stampings, cold-formed fasteners, clamp products, motion control and routing components, electrical/electronic connectors and light assemblies.
"We have enjoyed strong growth over the past several years as we executed on a number of key initiatives that have expanded our global reach as well as our customer and supplier base," EFC CEO Matt Dudenhoeffer said in a news release.
Neal Sahney, principal at Frontenac, added that EFC "generated record results this past year."
