More than 20 new jobs are being created through an expansion project at an injection molding company in Kentucky.
Engineered Plastic Components Inc. will spend $3.6 million to add 40,000 square feet to a plant in Lebanon, a move that will bring the facility to nearly 300,000 square feet, Gov. Andy Beshear's office said.
The project is expected to add 21 jobs.
"The manufacturing sector is a staple of Kentucky's booming economy," Gov. Andy Beshear said in a statement. "Having companies already established here in the commonwealth choosing to expand and grow their operations is a critical component of the state's continued economic success. EPC-Columbia is providing quality job opportunities for Marion County and the surrounding community."
EPC has 16 plants and 560 injection molding machines in the United States, Canada and Mexico serving the automotive, appliance, aerospace, heavy equipment, agriculture, forestry, scientific and medical segments, the state said.
The company signed a 15-year agreement with the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority that will provide up to $350,000 in tax incentives based on an investment of at least $1 million along with the creation of 21 "Kentucky-resident, full-time jobs across 15 years," the state said. Those jobs will have an average hourly wage of $20.42, including benefits. Current company employment in Kentucky is more than 400.
EPC, of West Des Moines, Iowa, is No. 27 in the latest Plastics News list of injection molders in North America with annual sales of $360 million in 2022.
