ExxonMobil has rebranded all of its polyethylene and polypropylene materials as Signature Polymers.
In a news release, officials with ExxonMobil in Spring, Texas, described the move as "a new approach to service and partnership with customers and the broader value chain."
Signature also will host events under the Polyview name that the company says will allow for dialogue through sharing market insights and to bring together the broader value chain. Officials said these events "will address challenges and opportunities in the plastics industry."
And Signature will operate Signature Polymers Academy, which will be focused on delivering training and workshops for customers in key markets.
Polyview events and the Signature academy "are intended to serve as enablers for partners to build key relationships and capabilities to further their business," officials said. They added Signature's product standardization and naming will be simplified to improve portfolio navigation and product selection.
"As our industry faces increasing challenges, we believe our position as a leading global polyolefins supplier puts us in a unique position to deliver a new level of service and partnership," Senior Vice President Juhan Robberts said. "We are elevating our customer experience and launching our new brand structure as a commitment to this promise."
Global Brand Manager Alechia Crown said that during the next year, ExxonMobil will transition some of its brands and grade names to better reflect the attributes and benefits they provide.
"We'll have fewer, more significant brands," she added. "Our high-quality polymers aren't changing, just the names," Crown said.
The rebranding announcement comes one week after the state of California filed a lawsuit in San Francisco County Superior Court alleging that that ExxonMobil has been deceiving Californians into believing that recycling would solve plastic waste and pollution issues.
ExxonMobil Chemical is a major supplier of PE, PP and specialty resins. The business is a unit of global energy giant ExxonMobil Corp.
