A man is dead following an industrial accident at an injection molding plant in Ohio.
The Bellevue, Ohio, fire department was called to Precision Automotive Plastics at 7:36 a.m. June 27 for what was described as a crane accident.
"The fire department arrived at the scene ... to find an employee who had been pinned under a piece of molding equipment. The employee was pronounced deceased on scene," the department said in a statement.
Recovery of the victim, whose identity was not released, took most of the day.
"Due to safety concerns and tactical challenges the employee was extricated around [3 p.m.]," the department said.
A rescue team from nearby Ballville Volunteer Fire Department and B&W Welding Inc. of Fremont, Ohio, both assisted with the recovery of the body, the Bellevue Fire Department reported.
Precision Automotive Plastics is part of Windsor Mold Group of Windsor, Ontario, which is owned by ABC Technologies of Toronto, the ninth largest injection molder in North America according to Plastics News data.
ABC Technologies, which provides parts for the automotive industry, had an estimated $760 million of injection molding sales in 2023 with 12 plants in North America and an estimated 4,600 employees.
