The Flexible Packaging Association (FPA) has named a new president and CEO, Dan Felton.
Felton was previously the executive director of the American Institute for Packaging and the Environment (Ameripen) and will step down from that position on Nov. 1. Ameripen has started the process of looking for a new executive director, with a committee will be overseeing the process.
"We are excited to have Dan Felton join us as FPA president. He is a proven leader with tremendous experience in the industry. I am confident Dan has the right approach to successfully navigate the FPA in the years ahead," said William Jackson, chief technology officer for Amcor Flexibles and FPA chair.
FPA was founded in 1950 and represents manufacturers, material and equipment suppliers in the flexible packaging sector.
Felton is charged with helping the association expand its meetings and programs and continue advocating for the U.S. flexibles sector.
FPA touted Felton's experience with sustainability issues and his background with experience in trade association membership growth, strategic planning and coalition development.
"As a veteran of the packaging industry trade association world, I'm beyond excited to join FPA, the leading organization for flexible packaging," said Felton in a news release. "FPA is well known for its strong, passionate leaders, talented staff, and members, and I am honored to have the opportunity to work with all of them to drive the organization forward and expand its reach."
The previous CEO of FPA, Alison Keane, departed earlier this year after eight years. Keane moved on to a new job at the International Sleep Products Association and Mattress Recycling Council.
