Borealis AG says a fire at its steam cracker in Stenungsund, Sweden, on May 9 was brought under control by early on May 10.
No one was injured, the Vienna-based materials company said in a news release.
The local crisis team immediately activated the emergency plan when the fire broke out shortly before 9 p.m. on May 9. The fire brigade was able to contain the fire by 5:15 a.m. the next morning.
Borealis said it is working closely and openly with the authorities to investigate the root cause of the incident and will take every action to prevent a similar accident from happening again.
