C-P Flexible Packaging Inc. is making a West Coast acquisition that extends the company's presence across the United States.
The York, Pa.-based firm is buying Fruth Custom Packaging Inc. and Cleanroom Film and Bag Inc., affiliated companies with common ownership in Placentia, Calif.
Both companies make flexible rollstock and pre-made pouches used in clean rooms, C-P said.
"Our strategic plan was to help create a flexible packaging organization with coast-to-coast presence and a broad portfolio of products. The acquisition of Fruth, with its strong technological capabilities and West Coast location, represents an important step in achieving our goal," said Roberto Buaron, chairman of First Atlantic Capital, an investment firm that owns C-P.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
C-P gains expertise in packaging for the medical device, biopharmaceutical, electronics and semiconductor markets.
Operations include "several levels of clean room environments with in-house blown film extrusion, flexographic printing, specialty bag making and slitting," C-P said. Products are distributed nationally.
"With the global focus on health and wellness as well as the growth in semiconductor demand for technologies like 5G, we see significant additional growth opportunities for Fruth's sophisticated clean room packaging materials," C-P CEO Mike Hoffman said in a statement.
Mergers and acquisitions firm Thomas Blaige & Co. LLC of Chicago worked with the Fruth family and the companies' management on the sale.
