A flexible packaging maker is continuing to expand in Waupun, Wis., this time through a new $5 million facility.
Eagle Flexible Packaging will construct a new 52,000-square-foot plant in Waupun Industrial Park following recent action by that community's council to sell a plot of land to the company.
Eagle, based in Batavia, Ill., first came to Waupun in 2021 to start production in an existing building. The company later acquired a site in the industrial park. It was there that Eagle has spent more than $3 million in facility improvements.
The expansion is located across the street from this facility, according to a local media report.
"Future expansion plans call for a doubling of the current workforce over the next five years to support planned growth," Eagle Chief Operating Officer Scott Deringer said in a statement on the company's website.
"The planned expansion is expected to be substantially complete by the end of 2025 and paves the way for the addition of 30 to 40 new jobs, hired within 24 months of facility completion," the company said.
Kathy Schlieve is Waupun's administrator.
"Eagle Flexible Packaging has made consistent investment in the City of Waupun, bringing employment opportunities for residents and supporting community nonprofits and events since opening. The proposed project is well aligned with city goals to continue diversifying our economic base through expansion of the Waupun Industrial Park," said Kathy Schlieve, Waupun's administrator, in an announcement on the city's website.
Eagle makes preformed pouches, roll-fed film, and roll stock with pre-applied zippers.
"In addition to in-house printing and converting, we also have the capability to laminate a variety of custom film structures," the company said on its website.
Markets include frozen food, produce, confectionery, pet food, coffee and tea, and powders and granulates, the company said.
