Resin distributor Formerra has opened a new warehouse in Malmo, Sweden.
In a news release, officials with Formerra in Romeoville, Ill., said the new location strengthens support for health care customers in Scandinavia and Europe with specialized material solutions.
They added the new site "marks a significant step in [Formerra's] global expansion strategy" and that the facility will support existing customers with an emphasis on serving the growing production demands of medical device and equipment production in Europe.
"With this new facility, Formerra is expanding geographically and, at the same time, intensifying our focus on the health care sector," CEO Cathy Dodd said.
The new warehouse will complement Formerra's existing presence and warehouses in Ireland and the United Kingdom, officials said. The firm acquired those locations when it bought distributor Total Polymer Solutions in April 2023.
Formerra made another international deal in November when it acquired Mexico City-based Suministro de Especialidades. Suministro also has locations in Guadalajara and Escobedo, Mexico.
Formerra was created in late 2022 when Miami-based HIG Capital acquired the former Avient Corp. resin distribution unit in a $950 million all-cash deal. The business distributes resin and compounds for 21 suppliers, including Dow Inc., BASF and LyondellBasell Industries.
Formerra will be at MD&M West in Anaheim, Calif., this week in Booth 610.
