A subcontractor died July 14 while working at the Formosa Plastics Corp. plant in Point Comfort, Texas, according to news reports.
Reports said Pedro Manzano-Silva, 31, of Mission, Texas, was working for a scaffolding inspection company when he apparently fell 40 feet and died.
A Formosa spokesman said the company could not discuss details of an ongoing investigation or release details of employees for subcontractors, but it told Victoria, Texas, television station News Now 25 that the employee died while on the job at the Formosa plant.
"Formosa Plastics Corp., Texas regrets to confirm that a contractor company scaffold inspector experienced a fatal injury this morning while performing work at our facility," the statement said. "The investigation into this incident is ongoing and we cannot confirm the details at this time. We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the contractor employee's family."
