Los Angeles — Freight company and parts supplier SCI Rail Holdings LLC has acquired plastics parts manufacturer Salco Products Inc.
Details of the transaction, announced by SCI's parent company Stone Canyon Industries Holdings Inc. on Feb. 5, were not disclosed.
Salco is the largest supplier of circular hatch covers to the North American freight car industry, according to a news release. The company also produces valves for tank cars and plastic or metal-based components used in hopper cars, tank cars and over-the-road trailers.
The deal was made through a subsidiary of Stone Canyon, A. Stucki Company.
"Our team is excited to welcome Salco, its loyal customers and its employees into the Stucki family," A. Stucki CEO Bill Kiefer said.
Kiefer said in the release Salco will keep it's brand name and operate under current president Dave Oestermeyer, which he said was a key component in the acquisition.
Salco has facilities in Lemont, Ill. and Houston.
