Beverly, Mass. — Freudenberg Medical has completed construction of its new global headquarters and medical manufacturing facility.
The 36,000-square-foot operation includes expanded manufacturing and innovation facilities and Class 8 clean room space for molding and assembly, the company said in a statement. The operation is ISO 13485 certified and FDA-registered.
The location will manufacture medical devices and components in medical and implant-grade silicones and high-performance plastics.
"The Boston life science cluster is the ideal place for our new headquarters and expanded manufacturing operation," Max Kley, president and CEO of Freudenberg Medical said in a statement. "It brings us closer to our customers, provides access to a strong medtech work force and allows us to connect with local universities and research institutes."
There is room to expand by an additional 20,000 square feet, the company said.
The project originally was announced in December 2018 and was expected to be completed in the second half of 2019 on a budget of more than $3 million.
Beverly is located 20 miles north of Boston. Freudenberg's previous facility was in Gloucester, Mass., about 15 miles from the new site. The company acquired the 19,000-square-foot Gloucester operation from Jenline Industries Ltd. in 2003. That facility has been in operation since 1989.
Freudenberg Medical is a member of the Freudenberg Group and a global developer and manufacturer of specialty components and finished devices for the medical device industry.
