Automotive supplier EuWe Eugen Wexler U.S. Plastics Inc. is investing $8.6 million to expand its Williamston, S.C., production facility.
The expansion will create 16 new jobs, a Dec. 11 news release by the South Carolina Department of Commerce said, and is expected to be completed by mid-year 2021.
EuWe, a subsidiary of Germany-based EuWe Group, also has facilities in the Czech Republic and Mexico.
"With this expansion, EuWe will be able to solidify its position in the region as a premium Tier 1 supplier and contribute more to the success of our customers, business partners and employees in the upstate," J. Kevin Smith, EuWe's chief financial officer, said in the release.
The investment includes the acquisition of 13 acres of land, which will be used for the expansion of the facility which originally opened in 2015.
EuWe Group did not immediately respond to request for comment by Plastics News.
