Düsseldorf, Germany-based Gerresheimer AG is investing about $88 million to expand its Peachtree City, Ga. manufacturing operations with a new building.
The new facility will produce medical devices, "in particular," auto injectors, to administer injectable drugs, Marion Stolzenwald, senior manager of corporate communication for Gerresheimer told Plastics News in an email.
The company expects operations at the new building to begin in the fall of 2024, creating 200 new jobs in the region, a Dec. 21 news release said. Hiring for the new facility will start in early summer 2024.
"The U.S. market is an important growth driver for us, and the expansion of our operations in Peachtree City will be key for growing our medical device business in the U.S.," CEO Dietmar Siemssen said in the release. "We are glad that we have found such favorable conditions and a highly motivated and skilled staff here."
Gerresheimer's existing manufacturing facility in Peachtree City is currently undergoing an expansion and is expected to begin operations in that space in April 2024.
That expansion creates another 180 new jobs, the release said. The company is hiring for various positions from entry-level production employees to engineers, quality managers and administrative staff.
Currently, Gerresheimer has more than 260 employees in Peachtree City.
The company also expanded two facilities in Germany in 2022.
Gerresheimer manufactures pharmaceutical containers, drug delivery systems, and medical devices.
