For bag maker Gigantic Holdings LLC, success is not that hard to figure out.
The Summit, Miss.-based company, which has grown to three locations in recent years through acquisition, mostly looks for ways to be a present for its clientele.
"Our secret sauce is, and it's not a secret, it's just hard work, dedication, commitment, and service to our customers," Gigantic owner Keith Simmons said.
The company started in 2015 in Summit as Gigantic Bag, later purchasing Donarra Extrusions of Ocala, Fla., in 2021 and Cougar Bag of Mooresville, Ind., in 2022. The corporate structure changed to Gigantic Holdings in 2021 to make the acquisitions, and the Cougar brand was retired in favor of the Gigantic Bag name.
Along with growth through acquisitions, the company has seen expansion thanks to internal efforts. This organic growth, in part, is being fueled by market demand for more sustainable plastics, and the company has trademarked the phrase "Plastics With Purpose" as part of its marketing for products that include recycled and bio-based resins.
Gigantic Holdings' expertise includes experience in niche markets that allows the company to continue to expand, Simmons said.
"We're very complex in some items, and then some items are not as complex. So we just fill the niches of the industry. We let the market tell us what we need to do," he said. "We do everything from food to industrial."
Growth has allowed it to become a $37 million company in film and sheet sales with about 200 employees across the three sites. The company continues to seek acquisition candidates. "We're always looking for the right company and to add it to our roster and to our portfolio," Simmons said.
Gigantic sells a wide variety of products, including garbage can liners, bags for packaging, sheeting, mattress and furniture covers, pallet covers, form, fill and seal films, medical gowns and medical waste bags.
The company now has 15 film lines and six sheet lines. Resins include polyethylene, polypropylene and biopolymers.
