Well, that was quick.
A Louisiana plastic film and bag maker is announcing an expansion for the second time in seven months with a new $12.5 million investment.
The move by Mid South Extrusion Inc. of Monroe, La., follows a September 2024 announcement of a $17 million project to install two new production lines.
This time around, two more polyethylene film lines will be installed to bring the company's total to 16.
"This investment marks a strategic advancement in our capabilities — significantly increasing our production capacity and enabling us to better serve our customers with greater speed, consistency and flexibility," said Kent Anderson, Mid South Extrusion's executive vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement.
"It positions us to support our partners as they grow, expand into new markets, and meet evolving demands," he said. The new expansion will create 12 new jobs.
Work on the expansion is expected to begin in November with production expected in early 2026.
The new project also involves renovation of the company's site to accommodate the weight and height of the new equipment. Mid South also will build new storage silos and install a new heating, ventilation and air conditioning system.
Mid South also expanded in 2022 by adding a production line in a project valued at $4.9 million.
"We believe our best days are ahead for our community and our company," Anderson said.
