Chino, Calif.-based Harrington Process Solutions LLC, a distributor and fabricator of industrial flow control process systems, has acquired Tulsa, Okla.-based Cortrol Process Systems to expand its product portfolio and geographic footprint.
Incorporated in 1979, Cortrol provides nonmetallic, corrosion-resistant, flow-control products for the chemical processing, industrial, municipal water and other markets as well as fabrication services for fiber-reinforced plastic flow-control products and systems.
A stocking distributor for many manufacturers of chemically resistant pipes, valves, pumps and tanks, Cortrol has warehouses in Tulsa; Des Moines, Iowa; Baton Rouge, La.; El Dorado, Ariz.; and Houston that serve mainly the Midwest and Gulf Coast.
Cortrol offers fiberglass pipe and fittings, fiberglass basket strainers, Teflon and elastomer expansion joints, polyethylene and polypropylene tanks among other lined-steel process equipment and tanks.
The addition of Cortrol strategically enhances the Harrington fiber-reinforced plastic product portfolio and complements its geographic footprint to better serve customers with products for all stages of the flow control system life cycle, according to Harrington CEO Bob Graham.
Founded in 1959, Harrington distributes fluid process products for industrial applications, including water and wastewater management, chemicals, manufacturing, semiconductors, life sciences, and food and beverage processing. The products include piping, filters, pumps, tanks, valves and instrumentation.
In September 2023, Harrington was the acquisition target of Bain Capital Private Equity, which purchased it from Nautic Partners LLC.
Less than a year later, Harrington is back in acquisition mode.
"Cortrol is a distributor of strategically important product categories with attractive end market exposure, targeted territories and value-added fabrication capabilities," Graham said in a news release.
"Their excellent reputation, deep relationships with suppliers and customers, robust product portfolio, and experienced fabrication and engineering teams will enable us to enhance our existing strengths and add valuable services to better serve our customers throughout the product life cycle. We are looking forward to partnering with ... the team and strengthening Harrington's comprehensive offering of flow-control solutions."
Terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
Seth Junge will continue leading Cortrol under Harrington's ownership.
"Since our inception, we have been proud to offer high-quality products and services that are backed by a team that emphasizes integrity and superior workmanship," Junge said.
"The markets we serve rely on dependable solutions and service, and we are excited to continue to deliver on this promise as part of Harrington, which will provide our customers access to end-to-end fluid process solutions for corrosive and high-purity applications."
Harrington was on a growth track in 2022, when it acquired two companies: plastic plumbing products distributor Commercial Industrial Supply of Rock Hill, S.C., and Woodland, Calif.-based Crist Group, which fabricates fluid process parts and assemblies like pipe manifolds, tanks, fittings and flanges from thermoplastics and fluoropolymers.
