Hosokawa Alpine AG has acquired Solids Solutions Group, a company with offices in Spain and Germany that develops and manufactures devices and components for bulk materials handling.
The acquisition, which took effect Jan. 2, was officially announced by Hosowaka Alpine on Jan. 14. Terms were not disclosed.
"With the acquisition of Solids Solutions Group, we are pleased to be able to support our core business in the field of mechanical process engineering with a broad portfolio and knowhow in the field of bulk materials handling," Antonio Fernández, CEO of Hosokawa Alpine in Augsburg, Germany, said in a statement. "As a result, customers of both companies will benefit in [the] future from the joined strength of a broad-based system provider."
Solids Solutions Group, established in 1969, specializes in systems used for storage, conveying, dosing and weighing. It also offers automation and control technologies for bulk solids handling systems. The company serves a majority of industries that produce and process bulk solids, including plastics and rubber, food and beverage, chemistry and minerals, among others. It employs about 100 people.
Going forward, Solids Solutions Group will operate within Hosokawa Alpine under the name Hosokawa Alpine GmbH.

"The integration into the Hosokawa Group will further strengthen the company and offer a successful prospect for the future."
Hosokawa Alpine, a member of the Hosokawa Micron Group based in Osaka, Japan, manufactures machines and systems under two business divisions: powder and particle processing, where it makes classifiers, granulators, roller presses and other equipment; and film extrusion, which houses the company's blown film lines and components.
