HTI Plastics has added a new injection press, a 420-ton Engel E-motion 1640 with an integrated Viper 20 robot.
The machine, which began operating in May, brings HTI's total number of presses to 32, ranging in clamping force from 30 to 1,800 tons.
HTI said it purchased the machine to accommodate a customer's new project, and the press will serve other customers as well. HTI does custom and contract manufacturing for the pharmaceuticals, medical device, animal health, sporting goods and packaging markets.
The company, which employs 110, is a division of PCE Inc.; both firms are based in Lincoln, Neb. HTI said it recorded 2020 sales of $22 million, placing No. 235 in Plastics News' ranking of North American injection molders, published in June.
PCE also has a blow molding division, Apex Plastics in Brookfield, Mo., and a profile extruding unit, Lincoln Plastics.
