Bolton, Ontario-based Husky Technologies, a manufacturer of injection molding machines, tooling and systems for packaging processors, acquired secondary injection unit and rotary platen technologies from Germantown, Wis.-based MGS Healthcare Manufacturing (MGS).
MGS is divesting its multishot product line to Husky, which will integrate the technology with Husky's Altanium brand mold controller technology, according to a news release about the deal.
Terms weren't disclosed.
Integrating MGS's advanced multishot technologies will improve Husky's ability to offer turn-key solutions for multi-material and multi-color applications and strengthen its position as a supplier to the medical, packaging and consumer electronics markets, the release says.
MGS began selling the add-on units in 2005 and showed them at NPE2006.
The acquisition of the technology, which improves manufacturing efficiency and performance, reinforces Husky's commitment to innovation, according to Robert Domodossola, Husky president of systems and tooling.
"By bringing these complementary technologies into our portfolio, we are enhancing our ability to serve customers with integrated, high-performance solutions that drive efficiency and growth," Domodossola said.
Husky is the ideal organization to take over advancement of the multi-shot product line, according to Shawn Krenke, MGS chief technology officer.
"This divestiture allows MGS to concentrate on being a world-class contract development and manufacturing partner to our health care customers and we are dedicated to working closely with Husky to ensure a seamless transition and integration for all future and existing customers," Krenke said.
Husky will show the new product additions at upcoming trade shows starting this month.
